The Jamaican diaspora rolled out in their numbers to celebrate The Most Honourable Douglas Orane CD. JP. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Jamaica Charity Gala in Miami, Florida.
The event was put on by the American Friends of Jamaica, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Jamaican charitable organizations and social initiatives that are working to improve the lives of Jamaicans through systemic development in the areas of education, health care, and economic development.
One On One’s CEO, Ricardo Allen was on hand to support the charity and pay homage to his long-time mentor and One On One shareholder, Mr. Orane. Mr. Orane received the International Humanitarian Award along with fellow awardee, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, OJ. Both were commended for their efforts to give back to those in need and for making significant contributions to Jamaica.
Mr. Allen joins The Hon. Douglas Orane in supporting the Wolmer’s Safe Shelter Programme for Girls Fund. A firm believer in making knowledge acquisition easier for everyone, Mr. Allen was compelled to make his own contribution to the fund to push the school closer to its goal.
The school is currently on a mission to rebuild its girls’ school hall and classroom blocks to facilitate its 3,300 students. One On One is committed to the development of education in Jamaica and it was an honour to join the 2023 Humanitarian Awardee, The Hon. Douglas Orane, in supporting the Wolmer’s Trust.
